Nokis N8 is a “buy” for our readers Posted: 28 Dec 2010 08:24 AM PST Yesterday, at Nokia N8 Portal, we made a poll asking our readers if the Nokia N8 was disappointing or not. After 133 votes, 69% of the readers answered no to the question, meaning that the N8 is really a great mobile phone for them and they bought it our would buy, while 31% agreed with Edward Umana, stating that the Nokia n8 was really disappointing. Of course, we are in a community of Nokia N8 lovers and thus the results would be expected to be like that, because if you read this blog is because you own a Nokia N8 or because you imagine having one, but at least you have tried it or you have had an experience with this phone. Even knowing that, the statistics have their value. If you want to re-consider your opinion, you can check our reviews of the N8:

Top 20 Symbian^3 OS apps countdown Posted: 28 Dec 2010 03:52 AM PST After revealing the top 5, its time to reveal 3 more. Sixth place qualifies for Gmail. An important email client which allows access to your Gmail account without the need of touching your computer. The email client, Gmail is Java-based, which means that this app isn’t quite as smooth as the others on the top 20 list. There is a downside of this app where you have to enter text in a full-screen editor. The full screen input method isn’t that much of an issue, you’ve still got a fully touch-enabled full-screen view into your Gmail account with all the features such as ‘Stars’, ‘Drafts’ including your full list of emailed contacts.
Seventh place is reserved for BBC iPlayer ! The BBC iPlayer is for UK residents only, it’s really mostly functional in a Wi-Fi range plus, it’s not even an application rather a fancy mobile web page. This lays out the best BBC’s TV channels output in a various forms. With a high quality, DRM-protected download form, it’s perfect for the user although it’s for some programs only. Unfortunately there is a lower quality streaming for the rest, the ‘live TV’ form offers the lowest quality of all but is really ‘live’ and works over a every day 3G connection.
Who shall the eight place be reserved for? Leta find out! In eight place, Opera Mini qualifies! The Nokia N8 Portal blog has been the in the spotlight of Web Browsing for quite a while, reason being that the advanced technology it features lets Opera’s servers, deletes everything the user doesn’t need which is then compressed to save the download time, arriving in the form of pseudo-code understood by the Opera Mini client. The end result is a very fast web experience, even on the most bloated sites, no wonder it was voted the most recommended web browser by many companies. With the new version 5.1 beta 2, it’s a built-in Symbian application which means that the application starts faster and runs faster. See you in a while! |
Are you disappointed with the Nokia N8? Vote now! Posted: 27 Dec 2010 02:51 PM PST Nokia has been failing constantly since 2008, many things are going wrong at their offices. Nokia is not making a trend anymore, Nokia is following trends, but it’s failing on doing that and despite being such a big company the “Nokia boat” can be the next Titanic. The release of the Nokia N8 is considered by many bloggers as the big failure. Edward Umana, my friend and blogger, made a post with the title “Nokia has let me down…” where he states that he won’t write anymore on his Nokia Blog until something new happens from Nokia. Supporting this behaviour are Nokia Stock quotes (NYSE: NOK), they are at 10$: the value they were in 1998 and the value when we were in the middle of the Crash of 2008. In the other hand Apple quotes (NASDAQ: AAPL) reached new highs after the crash of 2008. Is Nokia Dying? What’s going on? Will they have something new to show up in Las Vegas or in the MWC? What about the N8? What do you think about this phone? You bought the N8? Will you buy it? Vote now below or comment on the comments section. |
